Literature
From the 17th century on a string of Irish literary geniuses emerged. Jonathan Swift and Oliver Goldsmith set a standard for a new genre of Irish writing that would be followed by such greats as Oscar Wilde, Patrick Kavanagh, C.S. Lewis and Brendan Behan. Ireland has always be renowned for it's vast array of world famous writers. You can take a walk through Dublin following in Leopold Blooms footsteps, as told in James Joyce's 'Ulysses'. Or why not experience the magic and beauty of Yeats' Sligo?

Artists
The origins of Irish art date back to as early as 3,000 BC in tombs and sanctuaries along the Boyne Valley. Art is everywhere in Ireland. The National Gallery of Ireland, situated on Dublin's Merrion Square, is home to an ecelctic array, from the more traditional styles of art, to more modern styles.

Music
Music is everywhere you go, from the Castle Ward Opera in County Down or the Wexford Opera Festival, to the buskers on street corners.
Traditional Irish music is aplenty and varies from sing-along sessions with a bódhran, violin and piano accompaniment, to organised festivals such as the Fiddler's Green Folk Festival or the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann. More recently, Ireland's great musical successes include U2, Van Morrison, The Corrs and The Thrills.
